Name a Star

Imagine having your own name added to the stars. In Stars in the NeighborHood™, you can add or replace names of any star you choose. In this example, the current "Focus" star has the name "Tau Ceti" (short form "Tau Cet"). Many stars have only catalog numbers. Tau Ceti is also known as "HD 10700," "HR 509," "Gliese 71," "SAO 147986." But say you wanted to name it "Nancy's Fav." To name a star, first click the "Add Notes" button.

Combining Names

Besides giving the star a new name, you can combine the new with the old. This is as simple as point-and-click. Check the box at the bottom of the "Add Notes" dialog, click "OK" and you have a brand new label for the star.
